DEMANDS MET; SPECIAL PERSON’S CLUB RESUSCITATED

The President of the Nigerian Association of Special Education Students, University of Ibadan (NASES UI), Mr. Ayanwole Boluwatife Joshua PKA Prof B on Saturday 10th June 2023 made it known in a circular that the Special Person’s club has been resuscitated.

“It is with great joy and excitement to inform you that the long process of resuscitating Special Person’s Club has been actualized and achieved after a lot of endurance and sacrifices from the special needs students and the student leaders. We are proud of achieving this with all limitations posed before us. After a long process of consultation, confrontation and consolidation, we later made it. The club was lastly recognized officially 10 years ago (2012/2013) but it is with great joy and happiness that after all hurdles and hitches, we could still see light at the end of the tunnel, the Special Person’s Club is now active and back to action,” the circular reads. 

In a letter of request dated, May 8th, 2023, sent from the office of the NASES U.I President to the Students Union of University of Ibadan, Mr. Ayanwole Joshua stated 3 imperative needs which are resuscitation of Special Person’s Club, providing accessibility in Students Union building and co-opting special person at the Students Representative Council level.

He further stated that all the demands were worked on, and the list of Special Needs Students has been tendered for review as communicated by the SU President. He added that there was a report from the SU President that the structure of the Students Union building is a limitation to ramp feasibility as requested in the letter, although future consideration might be taken.

Mr. Ayanwole Boluwatife charged all special needs individual on campus to represent themselves and have high self-concept of themselves. “Your rights have been protected, it is time to stand and carry yourself well too.”

Mr. Ayanwole Joshua appreciated the unflinching support of the Students' Union President, Mr. Adewole Adeyinka PKA Mascot; and Emeritus President of NASES UI, Miss Adegboyega Kehinde; among others in making his request a successful one.
