"I am relentlessly working towards actualising the rest of my agenda"; NASES President says

The president of the National Association of Special Education Students (NASES), Osungade Tolulope Ayomide has stated that she is relentlessly working alongside fellow executive to actualise the rest of her agenda during a correspondence with a pressman on Tuesday, 16th of January

The president with a prompt from the pressman stated her accomplishments so far which included recognition for the best students in each level which occurred during the Freshers orientation, sign language tutorials for members of the department holding on Saturdays, creation of an e- library in collaboration with the academic director as well as a mentorship program for fresh students both UTME and Direct Entry in the department.

 However, there remains an equal part of the promises made that are yet to be fulfilled such as the creation of a foundation called Support for Special Person Initiative which the president tagged a 'personal vision' which she would like to make open to all Nasesites as soon as possible as well as a seminar which she promised will hold during the departmental week.

Miss Osungade further stated difficulties in providing accessibility to the department toilet while urging Nasesites not to lose hope as she would keep working on it.Another void yet to be filled is the establishment of what was tagged a Follow-up Committee, an initiative meant to check up on students in their various residences. Although the president initially claimed to have merged this with the mentorship program due to lack of volunteers for the committee, further introspection revealed that the publicity at the time the committee was introduced wasn't enough and therefore other strategies will have to be employed if this ambition is to be brought to life.

The conversation ended with a closing remarks from the president quoted thus; "As stated in my agenda, I rely solely on God for the realization of my visions, I continue to rely as I am committed to giving NASESITES the very best experience during my tenure, I'll try harder to actualize the rest of my agenda.I appreciate the Spe-media for checkmating the Executives because you guys see beyond what we see, and also the entire NASESITES for their constant support and turn up. However I want to plead with all NASESITES, we Executives cannot do it alone, we need the support of each and every NASESITE to help in fast tracking the achievements of our aims and most especially turn up for whatever programmes we have in stock for you.Much more is coming up this semester, sooner than expected.I pray that God will help us all"

THE DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION HELD HER FRESHERS' ORIENTATION ON 22ND MAY, 2025, AT A202 IN THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION OLD BUILDING.

By Charity Olufokunbi.  The Department of Special Education held her freshers orientation on the May 22, 2025, at A202 in the Faculty of Education old building. Key attendees included the Head of Department, Professor A.F. Komolafe, Dr. U.S. Udeme, Mrs. Adenike Akanni, and Professor Osisanya.  The event commenced at 10:37 AM with Miss Olaleye Suliyat, the department's academic director, moderating the ceremony. In her opening remarks, Miss Suliyat welcomed the freshmen and introduced esteemed guests, including Dr. Abodunrin and Mrs. Adeleke, the staff advisors. The ceremony proceeded with the recitation of the national anthem, school anthem, and the department's anthem. THE DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION HOLDS A WELCOME BACK PROGRAM FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES ON SEPTEMBER 10TH

By Gbadero, Rukaya Abike The Department of Special Education holds a welcome back program for persons with disabilities on 10th September, 2025, at Room 33 in the Faculty of Education, New Building. Key attendees included the host of the program, Mr. Adeyinka Adewole (SUG 2021/2022 President), the former NASES President, and the executives of the department. The event commenced at exactly 11:30 AM with Miss Olaleye Suliyat, the department's Academic Director, giving the opening remarks, while Miss Oguh Precious took over as the M.C of the program. Miss Precious welcomed all students present, both from the department and other departments. She also introduced the esteemed guests: the former SUG President, the former NASES President (2023/2024), and the host, Mr. Adeboye Temidayo.
