#No gree for anybody this semester!

5 Things You Mustn't "gree for" in This Semester.
1. No gree for distractions
If there is anything peculiar about second semesters, it's events and parties. This is the semester where there'll be a lot of activities going on. There'll be Jaw War, different halls of residence would have a lot activities lined up for their hall week, there'll be department week and also faculty week, there'll be dinners, gyrations, political campaigns and election. All these in just one semester. There's every tendency for students to get carried away with these activities and forget their academic life. It's important that while all of these is going on, you don't lose focus. Attending these events isn't a problem but the problem is when you invest all of your time in them and then put little or no time in your studies. Of a surety, there'll be distractions but it's up to you to not get carried away.
2. No gree for laziness
For most people, second semester is a semester where they offer less number of courses compared to the first semester. The point is most students often relax because they feel they are only offering few courses this semester. The temptation to stab classes would be there and the thing is that once you start stabbing classes, if care isn't taken, you will find it difficult to attend classes regularly even when you want to. We have students who would stab classes for an event happening in their hall. We also have students who would use this semester to sleep. The excuse they'll give is that they aren't having classes so they can sleep the whole day away. This semester isn't a semester to slack. There are profitable things you could get engaged in. You could sign up for free online courses which would help you. You could also invest your timesl in reading productive books.
3. No gree for sickness
Yes, no gree for sickness in this semester. You have to make conscious effort to take care of yourself. Eat well and eating well means eating balanced diet. Give drinking garri a rest. Also, you have to rest well. Do not get preoccupied with a lot of activities that you don't have time to rest. Once you notice any sign of sickness, do not wait but go to the health centre where you'll be treated before it becomes worse. You should be more intentional about your health in this semester. I mean, you wouldn't want sickness to hinder you from engaging in a lot of activities lined up for the semester.
4. No gree for failure
There's this general belief that most students CGPA reduces in the second semester. Imagine after building a strong CGPA in the first semester, then because of distractions, you aren't able to keep up and then your CGPA drops drastically. Every students want to succeed but not everyone are ready to take practical steps to succeed. There are students who use this second semester for their academic comeback. If you want to settle for mediocrity, then you can gree for failure but it not, avoid anything that could lead to you failing. Set goals for the semester and work towards achieving those goals.
5. No gree for anybody
This might look funny but it's true. Do not gree for anybody in this semester. If you have a friend who always discourages you, this is the right time to cut off from that friend. Pursue excellence like nobody else's business and leave those who aren't pursuing what you are pursuing. This is not the semester to be moving with those who are referred to as NFA - no future ambition. I believe you have a future ambition so move with like-minded people. If you've been the type who always says YES to every invitation, then you might just learn to start saying NO to somethings. Say NO to people who would take you farther from your goals, say NO to people who would distract you, say NO to people who would constantly discourage you and lastly, say NO to people who would prevent you from becoming a success.
