ECHOES FROM THE PREMIERE UNIVERSITY

By Okunola Marvellous.

In the very halls of the premiere school,
where wisdom be as an ancient tool,
where minds ever be renewed,
and battle blooms, in mind infused.

We gladly do the TDB,
so we may just appease the powers that be,
In lecture halls and even sleepy times,
our heart races but we hide the signs.

Breathing hard like walking from UI gate to Awo stadium,
deadlines and assignments — student’s perfect opium,
GPA becomes that tolling bell,
I can’t even peacefully watch Tinkerbell.

A luxury I can’t afford is sleep,
sometimes I LOL, other times I weep.
From Education to Arts,
we bear the burdens of excellence on our hearts.

But still we strive to rise and rise again,
As we head to class under the sun and heavy rain,
With our meager strength and hope against hope,
we forge on despite any slope.

In this place where First is the Best,
we’ll read the books, probably leave the rest.
May our days of studies be fruitful
and be seen, be heard, whole and insightful.
