CA SZN and its Common Trends
By Aishat Bello
It is no secret that we're now well into the semester and you would have had at least 5 weeks of lectures in your courses, the semester is gradually dividing into two and the period for building a strong continuous assessment score (CA) is now upon us.
Some lecturers favour group assignments and presentations, here you'll meet different kinds of people; those who are willing to participate and those who will leave the work for someone else to do. If you're lucky, the lecturer will ask for scores on group participation and everyone will get what they deserve or maybe just pray you get individual assignments instead and you can put in all your efforts into it.
Some lecturers on the other hand favour tests, both scheduled and impromptu tests. You may get one test and that will constitute a large or all of your CA, you may also get several tests and assignments to make up your CA.
Whatever form your CA may come in, chances are you'd have been aware beforehand. The lecturer may have mentioned it in the very first class (that's why paying attention is important) or your senior colleagues may have let you in on how the lecturer likes to run things. The most important thing is to put in a 100% effort in getting a good CA score as this is the first step to "four-pointing" a course. Be sure to eat well (I know it can be hard but try), hydrate, rest well, study hard and pray, you'll be sure to scale through the CA SZN easily.
