Why Every Students Must Eat Breakfast

By Aishat Bello
Breakfast....not the abstract type we're all afraid of; the type majority of us think we can't afford while drawing up our formula of one-two meals a day. Breakfast is known as the king of meals for a reason. It is important, particularly for students as it has the power to impact their well-being physically, mentally and even academically. Before you dismiss a healthy breakfast as one of those luxuries sapa won't let you afford yet, here are some reason you should consider adding it into your meal plan

1. Improved Focus
Did you ever consider that the reason you're sleepy or not paying attention in that morning class is because you've not had anything to eat? It is very possible because breakfast kick-starts the brain by giving it essential nutrients which can in turn help you concentrate better in class.

2. Improved Mood
You know the saying "a hungry man is an angry man". Well it's not completely far off. Having a nice breakfast will cancel out the "hungry man" part and positively impact your mood, lower feelings of irritability and generally make you a fun person to be around

3. Helps to develop Healthy Habits
Making breakfast a part of your daily routine can help to cut back on snacking during the day, therefore reducing intake of junk food and as well preventing overeating later.

There are so many other benefits to eating breakfast that can contribute to the overall success of a student.
While you're highly encouraged to eat breakfast regularly, the quality of breakfast also matters (kindly avoid drinking garri every morning in the name of breakfast) so be sure to incorporate a variety of food groups into your breakfast. Remember, one of the key to being a star student is eating well so don't be afraid of adding a little more to your food budget.
